Title: Maus: A Survivor's Tale

Being Jews and survived from the Nazi era, Vladek and his wife, Anja experienced a long painful journey and lost many of their precious family members including their child, their parents, siblings, cousins, and friends. Most were arrested, shot, killed, and sent to prisons or gas, The rich became poor, friends became enemies, some Jews worked for Nazi as gestapo shoot and kill the people of their own race, ... For instance, when a Jewish guy found the bunker where Vladek and Anja's family was hiding, they did not kill that guy but let him go. The next day, that guy led the gestapo to the bunker, as a result, all family members were sent to a building inside a ghetto. Vladek and Anja escaped by bribing his cousin but Anja's father and mother never escaped. When Artie asked his father why his cousin did not help Anja's father and mother, Vladek said below.
(Page 114) Artie's father, Vladek said, "at that time it wasn't anymore families. It was everybody to take care for himself!"
